Richmond is an awesome place to live, with plenty of things to do in the city and surrounding areas.
We're planning a lot of great opportunities to connect with others in the community over common hobbies and interests. Summer of Fun events are a great way to “find your people” so be sure to sign up for several over the summer!

Plan Your Own Summer of Fun Event!

Every summer, our community comes together to plan a huge variety of great opportunities to help us connect over common hobbies and interests. We need individuals, like you, to step up and plan an event.

It can be as simple as taking a hike, taking a picnic lunch to Belle Isle, planning a trip to Carter Mountain, organizing a Zumba class, or inviting young families with kids to play water games in your backyard. Whatever you are planning to do this summer, think about how it might work with 10-15 other individuals, and you've got yourself a Summer of Fun event!

When you have the basics down, fill out the Summer of Fun Leader Form with the details of your event. We will promote all of the events right here on our website! About a week before the event, you'll be responsible for emailing everyone that has signed up through the website with the details they need to know to participate. And that's it!

Earn badges to become a summer of fun adventurer

This year we are introducing a new element to Summer of Fun: Every different type of Summer of Fun event that you attend will earn you badges that you can collect to show just how adventurous you are! Collect four of the different badges to earn an exclusive Summer of Fun Adventurer badge!

What types of badges can you earn?

Outdoorsy - Love rock climbing, hiking, kayaking, and/or bird watching? Then you’ll have no trouble earning the Outdoorsy Badge.

Kid at Heart - Whether you are a kid, have kids, or just act like one, the Kid at Heart Badge will be easy for you to earn. Attend one of our many playdates, zoo trip, waterpark, or the epic slip n’ slide event to earn this badge.

Game Time - If you love participating in or watching sports, or you’d rather gather with friends for a board game nights or trading Pokemon cards, you’ll be able to earn the Game Time badge with ease!

Social Butterfly - Ready to kick back with friends in a relaxed atmosphere? Whether your attending an outdoor concert, attending a picnic or potluck, or jamming out at a pool party or karaoke competition, the Social Butterfly badge is for you.

Skill Monkey - If you love learning new things or expressing your creativity in new ways, then get ready to earn the Skill Monkey badge. Whether it includes attending a craft night, a woodworking class, service projects, or learning about the Art of Bonsai, you’ll be able to simultaneously learn a new skill and earn this impressive badge.

Traveler - Maybe you prefer making a group trip up to IKEA, or trying a new, far-flung winery or brewery, or you have a beach trip or hiking destination already in mind. Regardless, these long-distance events are all great opportunities to earn your Traveler badge!
