Are you already an avid birder or possibly just a fledgling looking to spread your wings? Join us for a morning of birding at Powhatan State Park (40 mins west of Richmond) on June 20th at 8:00 am.
Whether you're an experienced birder or simply curious about the birds you hear in your backyard, all experience levels are welcome. The park’s diverse habitats attract a wide variety of species, and with a little luck we may spot favorites like the bobwhite quail, scarlet tanager, and indigo bunting.
The main group will meet at 8:00am and spend about three hours exploring the trails, with an optional 6:00am start for fellow early birds hoping to catch the morning chorus at its peak. Parking is $5 per vehicle, or free with an annual park pass. Bring binoculars if you have them, wear comfortable walking shoes, and come ready to slow down and notice the beauty that’s often hiding in plain sight.
